Exemptions and approvals

In special circumstances, a licensee may apply for an exemption from a licence obligation, or an approval to allow an activity not permitted in the standard licence conditions. This page summarises the current set of exemptions and approvals available.

Minor business exemption

If your business is a bed and breakfast, hairdresser, butcher, florist or gift maker, you may be eligible for a minor business exemption.

Options for clubs sharing facilities

Licensed clubs may be able to reduce their cost of business if they share the same premises.

Reduce or waive renewal fee

Apply for a waiver or reduction in fees if you have special circumstances.

Underage or mixed-age events

Depending on the event, you may need to submit a notification form or apply for a permit to allow unaccompanied minors on the licensed premises.

If you are a club with underage members, you may apply for an authority to allow them to be unaccompanied on the licensed premises.

In special cases you may apply for an exemption from the standard Responsible Service of Alcohol training requirements.

Free water for patrons

In special circumstances, a licensee may apply for an exemption to the mandatory requirement to have free water available to patrons.

Live music venues

Licensees of live music venues can now apply to change their licence conditions relating to crowd controllers and CCTV cameras.
