An on-premises licence authorises the sale of liquor for consumption on the licensed premises.
Any business with appropriate planning permission is eligible to seek an on-premises licence. A late night application must be completed when applying for a general licence or an on-premises licence where trading hours extend after 1am.

A late night (on-premises) licence authorises the supply of alcohol for on-premises consumption after 1am.
Businesses wishing to trade on an on-premises liquor licence past 1am. Restaurants and cafes operating under a restaurant and cafe licence have a lower risk of alcohol-related harm. Consequently, they do not need to apply for a late night licence if they continue to trade after 1am.
