Licensees who hold a general, on-premises, late night or packaged liquor licence may apply for an exemption from one or more of the requirements relating to the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
RSA training is an important component of a risk management strategy to minimise alcohol-related harm.
Licensees may apply for an extension of time to comply with, or permanent exemption from, one or all of the RSA requirements. Licensees are required to provide a detailed explanation of the reason they are seeking an exemption from one or all of the RSA requirements.
The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) has the discretionary power to exempt some licensees from the requirement to undertake RSA. The VCGLR may either choose to exempt a licensee or class of licensees without an application being made, or the VCGLR may grant an application for exemption.
