Annette Kimmitt appointed new VGCCC CEO

Leading business executive Annette Kimmitt AM has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC).

Ms Kimmitt will commence as CEO on 21 March 2022.

Ms Kimmitt has more than 37 years’ professional and commercial experience, including several executive leadership roles with major Australian and international firms.

From October 2018 to March 2021, she was CEO and Managing Partner of Australia’s largest law firm, MinterEllison.

Prior to that role, Ms Kimmitt was the Global Growth Markets Leader at multinational professional services firm EY (Ernst & Young) and has previously held several other high-profile leadership roles with EY, including Asia-Pacific Accounts Managing Partner, Melbourne Managing Partner and Managing Partner Assurance.

She became a Non-Executive Director, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and Member of the Investment Committee of investment company Mirrabooka Investments Ltd in January 2021 and a Non-Executive Director of Trawalla Group in May 2021.

She is also a board member of the Melbourne Business School, where she is the Chair Finance, Risk and Audit.

As well as her extensive experience in the business world, Ms Kimmitt has been a prominent voice for improving gender pay equity in Australia through her role as a Gender Equity Ambassador for the Australian Workplace Gender Equality Agency.

She was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours for her significant service to business and gender equality and inclusion.

Ms Kimmitt was appointed VGCCC CEO following an extensive recruitment process.

VGCCC Chair Fran Thorn said Ms Kimmitt would bring significant experience and leadership skills to her role as CEO.

“Her background in the business world and her experience in audit and risk management in particular will be a huge asset to our regulation of the gambling and liquor industries and ensuring harm minimisation.”

Ms Thorn thanked VGCCC’s General Counsel and Executive Director, Regulatory Policy and Legal Services Scott May for the excellent job he has done as Acting CEO since November last year.

“Scott has shown great leadership during what has been a very busy time for the VGCCC, including overseeing the work to separate the regulation of gambling and liquor and our ongoing response to the pandemic.”
