Review of Responsible Codes of Conduct and self-exclusion program

Commercial licence holders and venue operators are required to undertake an annual review of their Responsible Gambling Code of Conduct (Code) and, where applicable, self-exclusion programs (SEPs) by 12 August 2016.

Commercial gambling operators include gaming venue operators, bingo centre operators, commercial raffle organisers, registered bookmakers, the casino operator, wagering and betting licensee and public lottery licence holders.

Coordinated by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission  (VGCCC) the annual review assesses the operations and effectiveness of the Codes and SEPs for the gambling industry.
Undertaking these reviews ensures compliance with legislation under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003. The review also provides an opportunity for the industry as a whole to reflect upon the effectiveness of the Codes and SEPs in fostering responsible gambling.

Resources and materials

The VGCCC produces guidelines to assist industry participants in conducting their annual reviews:

Your Code administrator (and SEP administrator, if applicable) can also help you with completing the review.

A full list of approved Code and SEP administrators and further information about the review can be found in the FAQs section of the Codes of conduct and standards page.

Review Submissions

The completed reviews of all Codes and SEPs must be provided to the VGCCC by the 12 August 2016. You do not have to submit a review directly to the VGCCC if you have a Code or SEP administrator completing a review on your venues behalf. Reasonable requests for extensions will be considered.

Reviews may be submitted using the contact form or by post to:
