From 1 August 2015, new legislative amendments will change who is exempt from Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG) training.
If you have recently been employed in the gaming machine area of a venue, and have completed RSG training in the last three years, you are not required to undertake further RSG training.
However, if you have recently been employed in the gaming machine area of a venue, and do not have RSG training, you must complete the training within six months of starting work at the venue.
RSG training does not apply if staff working in the gaming machine area have no contact or interaction with players in that area, such as cleaners, technicians and tradespeople.
Everyone working in a gaming machine area in a venue must complete RSG refresher training within three years of the initial training course and every three years thereafter.
It is an offence for a venue operator to employ a person to work in the gaming machine area of an approved venue who has not undertaken the required RSG training, regardless of whether the person holds a gaming industry employee licence or not.
