Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) inspectors visited many of Ballarat’s popular licensed venues this New Year’s Eve and found liquor licensees were compliant with their licence conditions.
Compliance Director Stephen Berriman said gathering intelligence and sharing information with Victoria Police identified key focus areas for New Year’s Eve inspections. VCGLR inspectors concentrated on breaches of responsible service of alcohol, intoxicated patrons and service to minors.
“Overall, it was pleasing to see venues adhering to their licence conditions and appropriately manage the risk associated with New Year’s Eve events.
We are pleased to see licensees take their obligations and the safety of their staff, patrons and the community seriously.
The high standard of compliance by Ballarat’s licensed venues on New Year’s Eve is a credit to the licensees and shows how working together we can keep the community safe.”
Gambling and liquor licensed premises may be visited at any time by the VCGLR or Victoria Police.
