Changes are now in effect impacting how patrons can access cash in gaming venues.
Changes to the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 (the Act) impact on EFTPOS transactions and the operation of cheque cashing services in gaming venues.
From 19 September 2018:
The $200 transaction limit on EFTPOS transactions and prohibition on cash advances from a credit amount will remain in place.
In relation to the new limit on EFTPOS withdrawals within a 24-hour period, the 24-hour period is calculated as commencing from the time of the first withdrawal.
It is the responsibility of venue operators to ensure they understand their obligations under the Act and to make the necessary arrangements so they remain compliant.
New Ministerial Directions regarding Responsible Gambling Codes of Conduct (PDF, 341.87 KB) and Self-Exclusion Programs are also in effect from 19 September 2018.
