Gaming venue operators will be given the opportunity to defer any community contribution payments due in 2020 due to impacts associated with the coronavirus.
Each year, some gaming venue operators are required to pay community contributions to local community organisations, if they have a condition on their licence requiring this to occur.
Affected venue operators will have until 1 July 2021 to pay their 2020 community contributions to community organisations. However, venues which are financially able to pay their community contributions in 2020 are encouraged to do so.
We have written to individual venue operators to advise of this measure and to encourage venues to contact any affected community organisations. To ensure all relevant information is received, venue operators can update their contact details via the online gambling services portal, see: Online gambling services portal
Community organisations that were expecting community contributions paid to their organisation to provide services to the community are encouraged to contact the relevant venue if they have not already been contacted.
Please note that this is different to the requirement to lodge a community benefit statement with the VCGLR, see: Community benefit statements
