New audio file on raffles

Raffle tickets

The VCGLR has released a short audio file answering common questions on the rules and regulations relating to running raffles in Victoria.

Each year thousands of raffles take place across Victoria. The new resource provides information about who can run a raffle and how. Providing this information in an audio format, along with information on the VCGLR website, helps people who are unable to access the information in other ways.

The recording answers common questions relating to raffles including:

  • Can anyone run a public raffle?
  • Can anyone run a private raffle?
  • Can a business or an individual run a public raffle and keep the funds raised?
  • How does an organisation be declared as an approved community or charitable organisation?
  • Are there rules that apply to all public raffles regardless of the prize amount?
  • What is a reverse raffle?
  • Can a licensed venue have alcohol as a raffle prize? For example, a bottle of wine in a hamper?
