The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has an increased focus on ‘illicit alcohol’. This is the term used to describe when businesses that make, store, import or distribute alcohol don’t pay the correct excise or customs duty when they’re required to. This includes spirits and beer, but not wine. It’s illegal and can put your business at risk.
