These application kits contain all the information and forms you need to complete and submit your application for a major event or temporary limited licence.
There are two temporary licence categories available for persons, businesses, clubs or other organisations holding:
Event organisers should allow a minimum of eight weeks for the VCGLR to review and process temporary limited licence applications and a minimum of three months for major event licence applications. Timeframes specific to the event can be discussed with the Licensing Officer managing the application process.
Application fees for a Temporary or Major Event licence are to cover our administrative costs to assess an application.
Should the event that you are applying for be cancelled in response to COVID-19, a refund of this fee may not be possible. In these circumstances, if your application has been assessed and a licence granted, the application fee will not be refunded.
If we have received your application but not assessed it, the application fee will be refunded. If you wish to just change the date of your event, this may be possible and it will be of no cost to you. If this is the case please contact us on 1300 182 457 to discuss.
A temporary limited licence authorises the licensee to supply liquor at the times and subject to the conditions specified in the licence.

If you have a credit card, you may apply for a temporary limited licence online. Applications can be made from mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, as well as traditional computers, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All information transmitted online is encrypted and secure.
A major event licence applies to events that are likely to have a significant impact, such as those:
