To ensure you have the most up-to-date signage by checking the keycode (located in the bottom left-hand corner of the sign) against the keycode listed on the website (see drop down licence categories below). The VCGLR no longer automatically mail signage to licensees and permittees.
Under the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998 (the Act), licensees are required to display certain signage (also referred to as posters or notices) around their licensed premises.

This poster advises patrons that the venue provides free water. Offering free water is an important part of the responsible service of alcohol as it helps patrons slow down their rate of intoxication and provide an alternative to consuming alcohol. This poster explains the consequences of being served a 'barring order' by licensees, responsible persons or Victoria Police. Barring orders can be served on drunk, violent or quarrelsome patrons. Once a person is served with a barring order, they must leave the venue and its vicinity immediately and cannot return until the barring order expires. If a person does not comply with the barring order, Victoria Police may issue them with an on-the-spot fine. This poster is voluntary for licensees to display on their licensed premises. |

The following aim to assist licensees with any queries they may have regarding their mandatory signage requirements.
The following posters have been updated to reflect the doubling of fines applicable for various offences relating to the supply of liquor to minors:
Check the keycode (located in the bottom left hand corner of the poster) against the keycode on the VCGLR website to ensure you are using the current version.
Licensees must display any notice (signage or posters) that the Commission requires to be displayed on the licensed premises.
A list of posters currently required to be displayed on licensed premises can be found above. Licensees are encouraged to regularly check the website to ensure that they are displaying the most up-to-date posters and meeting their regulatory requirements.
The maximum penalty for non-display of signs exceeds $738 under section 102 of the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998.
Signs are useful for notifying staff and patrons of their legal requirements and the fines for breaking liquor laws.
We encourage you to use the signage provided to tell your patrons what you expect of them while at your licensed premises. You can also clearly convey to patrons and staff that you support your staff in refusing service; and your staff can point out these signs when enforcing responsible service of alcohol laws.
