Vary or transfer existing liquor licences

Use this procedure to apply to change:

  • the hours or operation
  • the area or size of the premises
  • the general conditions of the liquor licence or BYO permit in Victoria.

There is an application fee (PDF, 478KB) to vary liquor licence details.

The procedure requires you to submit:

  • a completed and signed application form with the fee
  • planning permit or permission
  • four copies of red-line plan if changing the size or perimeter of the licensed area
  • kerbside trading permit if adding the kerbside to the red-line area.

Use this procedure to apply to change the category of liquor licence you hold.

There is an application fee (PDF, 478KB) to change your licence category.

The procedure requires you to submit:

  • completed and signed application form with the fee
  • four copies of the red-line plan
  • planning permit or permission.

Use this procedure if you want to change the category of your liquor licence from a full club licence to a restricted club licence.

There is no fee to apply to change your liquor licence category from a full club to a restricted club.

The procedure requires you to submit:

  • completed and signed application form
  • four copies of the red-line plan
  • planning permit or permission.

Use this procedure to transfer an existing liquor licence or BYO permit from one operator to another.

There is an application fee (PDF, 478KB) to transfer a liquor licence.

The procedure requires you to submit at least:

  • completed and signed application form with the fee
  • completed questionnaire for each person named
  • letter confirming settlement has occurred
  • evidence that licensee training has been completed.

Use this procedure if you are a licensee of a live music venue and you wish to vary your liquor licence conditions in relation to crowd controllers, CCTV cameras and RSA trained staff.

There is no fee to apply to vary your liquor licence conditions as a live music venue.

The procedure requires you to submit:

  • completed and signed application form
  • planning permit or permission
  • proposed management plan (not applicable in all cases)

Use this procedure if you are applying to vary your liquor licence to specify patron numbers for a function room(s) or accommodation area for the purposes of excluding these patrons from the venue capacity multiplier.

There is no fee to apply to specify patron numbers for a function room(s) or accommodation area.

The procedure requires you to submit:

  • completed and signed application form
  • planning permit or permission
  • four copies of the red-line plan
  • calculation by a registered building surveyor of the patron numbers.

You are also required to display a public notice at the premises that are the subject of the application.

Use this procedure to apply to relocate your existing liquor licence to a new premises.

There is an application fee (PDF, 478KB) to relocate a liquor licence.

The procedure will require you to submit:

  • completed and signed application form with the fee
  • four copies of the red-line plan
  • planning permit or permission.

You are also required to display a public notice at the premises that are the subject of the application (not required for a BYO permit).
