Tax arrangements for gaming venues change on 16 August

Gaming taxes are changing in mid-August, in accordance with the Gambling Regulation Act 2003 (section 3.6.6C).

What is changing?

From 16 August 2022:

  • the tax rates will increase
  • there will be an additional tax bracket to apply to the calculation of gaming tax
  • there will be separate calculations that apply to:
    • 1 to 15 August 2022
    • 16 to 31 August 2022
    • beyond 1 September 2022.

The calculation to work out taxable revenue will not change.

How will the August tax be calculated?

As the changes come into effect in the middle of the month, gaming taxes will be calculated in two accounting periods:

  1. 1 to 15 August
  2. 16 to 31 August.

Advice for gaming venue operators

As a result of the above changes, there will be two direct debits from your nominated bank account on 7 September.

Intralot Gaming Services Pty Ltd will also split the Venue Monthly Accounting Report on its BOS portal into two reports for August 2022.

We have written to all gaming venue operators about the changes. If you have any questions, please contact us on 1300 599 759 or email [email protected]
