Protect people who have self-excluded from your venue now to minimise harm

Venue management and staff have an obligation to ensure people who have self-excluded do not enter their gaming venue, and to ensure they help and provide guidance to those who ask to be self-excluded.

Ensure your staff are familiar with:

  • Your self-exclusion program
  • How to be made aware of who has self-excluded from your venue
  • What they should do if they see a self-excluded person in your venue
  • What they should do if someone asks to be self-excluded
  • The privacy rules about self-excluded persons and other record keeping requirements

It’s also timely to:

1. Speak to your venue support worker about additional training,

2. Review your processes for self-exclusion to make sure they’re sound and meet all the necessary requirements

3. Provide refresher training to your staff on self-exclusion so that they know the obligations and your expectations

4. Talk to your peak body about your self-exclusion program to see if there is more you could be doing

We investigate all complaints regarding self-excluded persons entering your venue to gamble, including complaints from self-excluded persons themselves. We will treat all such reports seriously and will take all necessary enforcement action if gaming venues permit self-excluded patrons to re-enter their venue.
