IMPORTANT NOTICE: The VCGLR website will be temporarily unavailable from 7.30am Tuesday 26 March for routine maintenance.
VCGLR inspectors were out and about this New Year’s Eve, making sure licensees remained compliant and that Victorians were able to safely celebrate on one of the busiest nights of the year.
Inspectors prioritised high risk locations across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
While the majority of venues were found to be doing the right thing, inspectors did come across a number of issues throughout the night including:
In some cases Inspectors spoke to licensees to resolve the issues on-the-spot while for more serious matters, venues received enforcement outcomes including Penalty Infringement Notices.
Licensees are again reminded of the importance of the requirements around Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), unaccompanied minors on premises, exceeding patron numbers, trading outside authorised hours and supplying intoxicated patrons. Restaurant and Cafe licence holders are also reminded that the predominant activity at all times must be the preparation and service of meals.
Now that we have rolled over into 2019, it’s also important to ensure you have paid your liquor licence renewal fees and that you display your 2019 liquor licence and required signage.
Thanks again to all licensees and Victorians helping us work towards continuing to achieve a safe and responsible liquor and gambling environment in 2019.
